“I had the pleasure to work with Ingeborg at Hutzel Hospital. I was a nurse midwife and she was a labor and delivery nurse. Ingeborg brought calmness, empathy, and both intuitive and exemplary clinical skills to the labor room. I have worked with many nurses in my career and Ingeborg stands out as a shining star.”

“I am lucky to have had Ingeborg around through both of my pregnancies. Though I invested hours upon hours researching and educating myself on pregnancy and labor & delivery, there remained an enormous amount of anxiety and uncertainty when facing the birth of my first child at age 35. My unease was amplified thinking about caring for and nursing a newborn while recovering from an unpredictable physical condition with no family close by. The most valuable aspect of having Ingeborg around was her reassuring and calming presence. Each time I approached her with my concerns, she could always bring me calmness with a conversation or a few texts. I wished to labor mostly at home, so I texted my contraction schedule to Ingeborg and she advised me on what ended up being the perfect time to head to the hospital. She came to my house when I experienced engorgement and a lot of frustration and pain while trying to figure out nursing. Emotions were really high and the reassurance and advice she provided were very much needed and appreciated for me to push through the toughest part. For the birth of my second child in 2019, I felt less prepared with a lot of things on my mind, my toddler, my job, how ready my house was…etc. Ingeborg checked in with me often through the process and came over during early labor, sat and chatted with me over a cup of herbal tea when I wasn’t quite sure if the contractions were real. She was by my side at the time of delivery and when my husband went home to take care of our toddler shortly after. Ingeborg took care of me for hours to ensure that I was taken care of and had enough food and everything I needed. Ingeborg has a way of putting me at ease with such a warm and positive personality, she is down to earth, but also has a strong voice when she needed to advocate for my needs in the hospital. Her wealth of knowledge catered to my somewhat type A personality and my need to talk things out. To have Ingeborg around through my pregnancies added a lot of positives to my experience, and I love her more for that. ”

There are not enough words to express how invaluable Ingeborg was to my most recent birth experience. At 38 years old, a single mom, with an already adult daughter, Ingeborg came along to help me through a surprise rainbow pregnancy. From the start, I found her to be very comforting and supportive, which is exactly what I needed at the time.
I was so nervous because my prior pregnancy ended in post postpartum pre-eclampsia and I had 2 losses in the 19 years in between. Because of her medical background, Ingeborg was very knowledgeable about the conditions and risks. She was awesome in reassuring me that we were well prepared and capable with all of the tools we needed. She was so supportive of my hopes to labor at home and helped me think through my birth plan and provided affirmation cards which came in very helpful when it was time for labor. As my pregnancy progressed, there were several surprises that required the birth plan to change and Ingeborg was a cool cucumber, never fretting and always assuring me that everything would work well as we were doing wonderful preparing for the baby.
At 32 weeks, the baby was deemed IUGR and Ingeborg was my ROCK! Instead of spiraling down the google rabbit hole, Ingeborg was a source of reassurance! I love that her background affords her a wealth of knowledge as I went through various stages of pregnancy and late night questions that she could always answer and/or send me resources. Always just a call or text away, I never felt alone in the pregnancy.

Ingeborg was present at the hospital when I was induced for delivery, supporting not only me, but also my 19 year old daughter who had never experienced anything like a baby birth. From making sure we were comfortable, had water, back rubs to being someone to talk to in the wee hours when everyone else was sleeping. On day 3 of laboring, baby's cord prolapsed and the labor room became a circus of excitement; the baby's life was in danger. While I was just kind of stunned and having things done to me, Ingeborg was the one very calm and LOVING voice that I could hear over all of the commotion. She held my hand and rubbed my head and just pulled my attention to her amazing calmness. PRICELESS. Though my baby came into the world fast and furious via emergency cesarean, it never could have gone so well had Ingeborg not been there.

After we came home from the hospital, Ingeborg made multiple visits to check on not just me and baby, but also my daughter, because as she said, she supports the whole family. She witnessed the trauma along with my daughter and her ability to comfort her was invaluable.

Ingeborg has been monumental in helping this birth experience be a positive one. She's been nothing but supportive and comforting - while also being confident and empowering. Strong woman helping a strong woman - that was Ingeborg to me. Ingeborg is now no longer just my doula, she is my family.
